Herold Engineering is a well-diversified Vancouver Island based consulting engineering company with our corporate office in Nanaimo and offices in Victoria and Ucluelet, BC. We are involved in a wide variety of building, municipal, transportation and marine projects throughout British Columbia with the majority of our work on Vancouver Island.
Structural Engineering
We have extensive experience in the design and construction of various building projects for a wide range of clients. Our experience covers a variety of structural construction materials such as concrete, masonry, structural steel, and timber framing systems on building projects.
Civil Engineering
Our extensive experience in municipal engineering includes project management, feasibility and conceptual design studies, detailed design, contract administration, site supervision and layout and construction management for a wide range of clients across British Columbia.
Project Management – CRP
We have the skill, focus, integrity and discipline to ensure all of our projects are completed on time and within budget. While working with various players, Herold Engineering will ensure that the intended purpose of each project is successfully achieved within required budgets and timelines.
Building Enclosure / Energy Modelling
We have extensive experience in the design, review and contract administration for many building envelope projects. We provide consulting for architects and developers including new construction, condition assessments, whole building energy modelling, building reviews for facility asset management, building renovations and restorations, performance issues forensic investigation, cladding connection design and passive house design consulting and construction.
Marine, Industrial, & Bridge Engineering
We provide structural and civil engineering services on a wide range of project scopes for Industrial, Marine and Bridge projects. Our typical scope of work typically includes feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction services. Our diversity in this sector allows us to solve design challenges with experience and a thorough understanding of the governing factors.
Residential & Multi-Residential Services
Herold Engineering has excellent standing with numerous residential home builders on Vancouver Island and is known for providing cost-effective and innovative design solutions for all residential construction. We are very active in multi-residential projects for both the private market and social housing projects. We are active in supporting social projects as a way of giving back to our local communities over the past 25 years wherever possible.

Celebrating 25 Years
In 1994, Mike Herold incorporated Herold Engineering Limited which has developed into a well-respected structural engineering firm serving the mid-island and upper Vancouver Island communities. In 2000, we expanded to provide civil engineering services to complement our structural and speciality engineering services which now include project management, industrial bridge and marine as well as building enclosure engineering services. Since 1994, our Staff level has grown significantly in order to better serve our client base.
Mike has over 40 years of experience on a wide variety of projects throughout British Columbia and is actively involved in the design and review of ongoing projects in the various departments as well as pursuing challenging areas of work for the company.
